Finding Meditation that’s Right for You - Ajit Patel Goldshield

Whilst meditation is a readily available option for reducing a variety of ailments such as stress-relief, high-blood pressure and overcoming phobias, some people find it difficult to integrate it into their routines and as a result have not tried it. However, what some people don’t realise is that meditation takes many forms which can connect to many different types of hobbies, interests and life style pursuits. Although sitting still with closed eyes in a quiet, private and secluded room is one approach to it, it isn’t the only one. In much the same way as activities such as listening to music, drawing and gardening can be used as therapies to improve mental health conditions, a wide variety of activities can also be used for meditative purposes. So think of what you enjoy doing, and there’s likely to be an approach to meditation that includes it.
For instance if you enjoy walking, you can produce a meditative state by considering what’s going on around you as you do it. Allowing yourself to become completely absorbed by what you’re doing and “living in the moment” can help you to de-stress, relax and help locate inner-peace. Similarly if you’re a food fan, focus on the specific aspects of eating, such as the texture, taste, colour, aroma and shape of foods you eat. You can carefully consider the nature of each individually which can allow you to become absorbed by deep-thinking – a process that is essential to meditation and the benefits it can yield.
